Free online SQL formatter

Queries copied from application logs, ORMs like Django or Prisma, or a teammate's message often arrive as one long line. Formatting puts each clause — SELECT, FROM, JOIN, WHERE, GROUP BY — on its own line so you can see what the query actually does and spot mistakes faster.

How to use it

1. Pick your database from the dialect list so its special syntax is understood.
2. Paste your SQL, or tap Sample to see an example.
3. Press Beautify SQL (or switch to Minify). Changing an option updates the result straight away.
4. Copy the result or download it as a .sql file.

Options

• Indentation: 2, 4 or 8 spaces, or tabs.
• Keyword case: UPPERCASE keywords and data types are the most common convention; you can also use lowercase or keep them as typed.
• Blank line between queries: separates multiple statements for easier reading.

If you see a parse error

The formatter has to understand your query's structure. Errors usually mean an unclosed bracket or quote, or syntax that belongs to a specific database — selecting the right dialect fixes most of them. Formatting only changes whitespace and keyword case; it never runs or validates your query against a database.
