Free online ASCII art generator

Tips for great ASCII art

  • Keep it short: big letters are about 12 characters wide each, so 5–6 letters fit an 80-column terminal.
  • Use a monospace font:ASCII art only lines up in fixed-width fonts — that's why Markdown code blocks work best.
  • Pick the right characters: Block for bold headings, Standard or Simple for maximum compatibility, Binary for a techy look.

ASCII art goes back to the typewriter and teletype era, and became part of early computer and bulletin board culture long before images were easy to share.
